In partnership with Springbuk, we are excited to announce our honorees for the 2023 Healthiest Employers of the Bay Area.

All applicants are considered for our Healthiest 100 Workplaces America award. We will announce the 2023 award winners on October 4, 2023.

90.3% of the Bay Area companies surveyed are on a hybrid schedule where employees are in the office on specific days.  9.7% work onsite or in-person and 0 companies are fully remote.

Additionally, some notable statistics from this year’s groups include:

  • 96.6% include information about employee health and wellness programs as part of the new hire and onboarding experience
  • 80.6% incorporate wellness into their company values

Silver Oak Cellars is a family-owned, California winery dedicated to producing only Cabernet Sauvignon. Silver Oak was established in 1972 by Ray Duncan and Justin Meyer. 2nd PAE Consulting Engineers, Inc. – Portland, Oregon (Local Office: San Francisco) – 355 Employees

PAE Consulting is an engineering firm whose projects touch on every aspect of a building's lifespan, from idea to opening. They work to set ambitious goals that are backed by data analysis to conserve water and reach high energy efficiency while balancing costs and long-term operational needs.

The company's wellness program is highly regarded by employees, as shown in a 2023 survey where it ranked among the top reasons for employee happiness at TWE. Overall, more than 80% of employees credit TWE's benefits and wellness program for their workplace satisfaction, with 84% able to make positive changes in their work to enhance their well-being.

2nd AssetMark – Concord – 986 Employees

AssetMark is a leading independent provider of innovative investment and consulting solutions serving financial advisors. We provide investment, relationship, and practice management solutions that advisors use to help clients achieve their investment objectives and life goals.

Since 2015, AssetMark has been offering Go365 to its employees and their families at no cost, even without medical plan enrollment. In the previous year, 45% of employees engaged with Go365, and the company plans to introduce it to new associates and their families.

They provide five covered sessions through their Employee Assistance Program and cover 100% of mental health costs outside of medication through health insurance. The company has also introduced flexible work schedules and a new vacation policy, granting all employees 30 vacation days per year, with a mandatory 15 days to be used. Chevron has taken steps to address musculoskeletal disorders and injuries, which have been a significant cost in benefit claims data. They partnered with Express Scripts to offer Hinge Health's musculoskeletal digital health benefit program. This program provides personalized care plans, exercise therapy, wearable sensors, and one-on-one video health coaching with a physical therapist, all at no cost to participants. Hinge Health is also used to support Chevron's office ergonomics injury prevention program.

In addition to addressing musculoskeletal health, Chevron has introduced enhanced support for fertility and family planning starting in January 2023. They partnered with WINFertility to provide services such as fertility medical and pharmacy case management, genetic testing, egg freezing, surrogacy and adoption resources, and reproductive behavioral health support. Both Hinge Health and WINFertility were deployed in January 2023, and Chevron's benefits program managers are optimistic about these new resources.

In 2022, U-Haul introduced Virta to their benefits package, initially focusing on the Type 2 diabetes program. The outstanding outcomes prompted them to expand offerings to encompass all three Virta programs: Type 2 diabetes, pre-diabetes, and obesity reversal. Virta's research-based approach effectively and sustainably reverses these conditions without medication or surgery-related risks, costs, or side effects. The program leads to lowered A1c levels, weight loss, and reduced or eliminated insulin use. Since implementing Virta, participants enrolled in the treatment plan have experienced an average reduction in insulin usage by 54% and collectively shed over 3,200 pounds.

To further support mental well-being, U-Haul introduced a Mindset App Reimbursement program in 2022, covering mindfulness, breathwork, and meditation techniques. Executive leadership actively promotes these benefits and encourages team members to utilize them and seek the help they need. The onsite medical clinic integrates mental health benefits into its services, with providers trained to assist team members in accessing the appropriate resources.
