Q: What is the most unique benefit offering currently in place? If you were to talk about your program with someone who does not work there, what would you share about your program that would make them want to join your team?
A: The most unique benefit offering currently in place at Quanta services is the Mental Health First Aid training program which we have made available to all employees. Mental Health First Aid is a course that teaches you how to help someone who is developing a mental health problem or experiencing a mental health crisis. The training helps you identify, understand, and respond to signs of addictions and mental illnesses. This cutting-edge program was put into place as a response to the needs of our employees and their families. It has helped us create a more open and understanding culture and stomp the stigma around mental health. Employee feedback has been tremendously positive, and we felt the shift as a company. Of course our employees brag that we provide a flexible work from home schedule, healthy lunches daily, sponsor employee and family members to participate in community 5Ks and bike rides, provide standup desk, lead movement breaks throughout the day. However, there is no health without mental health and it’s the culture we have worked to created that truly sets us apart.
Q: How are you addressing the mental health crisis in the United States as COVID-19 continues to pose a threat?
A: Mental Health has been our number one priority over the last few years. We have added several benefits and programs including a flexible work from home schedule, Mental Health First Aid training, Additional EAP services and paid for counseling sessions, stress management programs, paid days off to volunteer in the community. We have redesigned our headquarters with improved spacing and ventilation. We also provide free COVID testing and vaccinations to play as much defense as possible.
Q: What statistic best captures the success of your program’s effectiveness in the past 12 months?
A: The statistic that best captures the success Of Quanta's wellness programs is our employee engagement which sits between 75 - 80%. Every event, program, and meeting we have at Quanta includes wellness of some sort so we feel its a part of who we are. Wellness was in the forefront of our building design and we make getting involved with LIVE PWRFULLY, our wellness program as easy as possible.
Q: Provide a testimony from one of your employees.
A: “I have always wanted to be healthier and take better care of myself, but I have lacked the structure or plan to do it. Like they say, a goal without a plan is a dream. However, since starting at Quanta things are so readily available that everything is as easy as signing up. I love that the Quanta wellness program addresses multiple aspects of healthy living and provides a plan for the everyday person. Many years I would go without a physical, but since we had the health fair here at work, it was hard making an excuse not to have a physical. The Virgin Pulse app helps keep me motivated with the questions and tips every day and rewards me for participating. The step challenges and 5K’s help keep me accountable and the competitiveness pushes me to do better. It is also great that the rewards are steered towards healthier living. I won a bike for attending the corporate health fair and I ride it regularly. More recently, the Wondr program has really taught me a lot of simple things to improve my eating habits. I cannot say enough about the wellness program, I am happy to finally have a plan that will help me be healthier.” – Joel Urista, Claims Coordinator
