"As GTM employees worked remotely and then transitioned back to a hybrid environment, the firm's wellness program was a continually available source of support. During this time, one of our directors took the initiative to remotely leverage the program's fitness and nutritional training as part of a lifestyle change that resulted in the loss of 125 pounds. She continues to see a nutritionist paid for by GTM's health plan, which offers participants six free visits per year. With these resources in place, GTM's director is maintaining her health and exercise routine now that she is back in the office, and has inspired her family and colleagues to practice better health practices." -Anonymous

“The Take a Healthy Step program has helped me to put my health on the “front burner,” not the “back burner.” Each day is an opportunity to make good decisions, for both my mental and physical health. I have learned that if I make a mistake – skip a workout, eat something unhealthy, it’s okay and I can just try to do better the next day, rather than beating myself up for it. With the help of tracking my steps on TAHS, I trained to hike for 3 days on the Laural Highlands Trail. I was able to hike 30 miles in 3 days with a 28-pound pack! That hike was great for my physical health, of course, but the time in the woods with my family, away from the stress of everyday life, was also so good for my mental health. TAHS offers many opportunities to make your health a priority!” - J. Heatley

“Since my husband and I have implemented the Healthy Hearts! Healthy You! Program, we have become aware of our good and bad habits, and how to slowly make changes. I attribute my improved well-being to my health coach's endless encouragement. She has challenged me, regardless of my age, to always keep moving, and not to be transfixed with the number on the scale, but my overall wellness. The Enjoy Exercise Plan has guided us on how to find new ideas on how we could use exercises we enjoy doing. Who would of thought my husband and I would be riding bikes again at our age.”- Anonymous

“In my second year of utilizing the Just Lose It program, I won categories for both the second and fourth quarter weigh-ins, and was the waist circumference winner for the year. What surprised me the most was the reception and breakfast hosted by the team for our award ceremony. My family was invited to join via video chat, and my children were able to cheer for Daddy as I enjoyed breakfast with my fellow competitors, and was celebrated alongside them with the wellness team. I mention this to illustrate how far above and beyond our team goes. I am currently in my third year in the Just Lose It program, and happy to report that I was the second quarter winner in weight and waist. This year the team has also been sending out monthly challenges to help participants to develop healthy habits. I look forward to continuing to participate in the program!” -Anthony Campagna, Pharmacist

Marcie Kroeker is part of the U.S. CSG Marketing Communications Strategic Offerings team, and works on strategic marketing campaigns for our intellectual property (IP). Early in her career, she went through a stressful period in her life and found herself crying a lot and experiencing intense back pain. She started going to therapy for the first time, and learned strategies for reducing stress and making work a less integral part of her identity. She also learned she was suffering from chronic depression and anxiety. Three years later, she is still going to therapy regularly and working on prioritizing self-care, which she claims has saved her life.

For Marcie, self-care is about not pushing herself beyond her limits. She describes herself as “insanely ambitious,” which she says is great for career growth but detrimental to her physical and mental health. She’s learned to set boundaries both personally and professionally, saying “no” when she can’t take on any more. When she’s feeling sad or depressed, she finds it helpful to spend time with family members or hike with her dog, soaking up the quiet in nature. She also realizes that it’s okay not be happy all the time.
