2021 Healthiest Employers of Ohio

2021 Finalists

August 24, 2021

Each year, the Healthiest Employers® awards program honors the best and brightest in workplace wellness. Over the past year and a half, it has become apparent that when it comes to employees’ overall wellbeing, employers have an incredible opportunity to offer benefits that fit an employee’s unique needs – regardless of where they are in their health journey.

The state of Ohio was one of our most popular award regions this year. With an average Healthiest Employers Index (HEI) score of 68, employers in the Buckeye state understand that employee health and wellbeing is more than just physical exercise. 95.2% of Ohio applicants provide financial education and coaching opportunities, and 77.1% offer diversity education and training.

There is no doubt that the last year and a half has been challenging as the world navigates how to operate efficiently and effectively during a global pandemic. Many employers had to modify their corporate plans to keep their populations safe and healthy. A few key statistics from our Ohio applicants in relation to COVID-19 are as follows:

  • 91.7% provided flexible scheduling
  • 83% implemented online therapy services
  • 87.5% added telemedicine opportunities to allow employees to see their primary care physicians from the comfort of their homes
  • 95.8% offered flexible locations, allowing employees to work from anywhere
  • 67% provided additional PTO hours, which proved especially helpful for those who needed time off because either themselves or their families became ill

We have seen the highest increase in scoring on components that relate to family and  employees’ work-life balance. 77.1% of Ohio companies provide paid maternity leave, while 54.2% also provide paid paternity leave. Additionally, 7 in 10 companies are offering family support programs to assist employees in their personal lives over the course of a stressful 18 months.

The following companies have earned the right to call themselves one of the Healthiest Employers in Ohio! Congratulations to all!
