1st Randolph County Government – Asheboro – 885 Employees

Randolph County is a local government entity, part of the Piedmont Triad region, and considered the state's geographic center. The county is overseen by a County Manager and governed by a five-member Board of Commissioners. Randolph County is also home to the NC Zoo and the Richard Petty Museum.

Randolph County provides its employees with a range of unique wellness initiatives, such as a Standing Desk program, Health Coaching, free Personal Training, on-site fitness rooms, Feng Shui consultations, and medical concierge/advocacy. One standout offering is the Pet Therapy program, featuring certified therapy dogs that visit all departments, with additional focus on First Responders and the Critical Incident Stress Management program. The county also operates a 24/7 hotline offering comprehensive support, connecting employees and spouses to resources for health coaching, biometrics, housing, childcare, food assistance, employee referrals, financial aid, and crisis intervention.

Randolph County has expanded its employee wellness initiatives by partnering with a local counseling group. This collaboration offers therapy and counseling services to employees and their families at no cost for up to three sessions per topic. Additionally, the counseling group conducts on-site training on mental health topics every quarter across all departments. Specialized support is provided through trained peer groups embedded in high-risk departments like Emergency Services, Sheriff’s Office, Department of Social Services, Animal Services, and Juvenile Day Reporting. Other programs include Critical Incident Stress Management for First Responders, conflict resolution/mediation for departments facing conflicts, and regular Pet Therapy dog visits to all departments, with extended support for high-stress departments. The county also offers a 24-hour Well-being Hotline, connecting employees and spouses with confidential third-party vendors trained to provide appropriate health and well-being resources.
