West Monroe is a global business and technology consulting firm that collaborates closely with clients to accelerate value through technology. The firm differentiates itself by engaging in co-creation, aligning its goals with those of its clients. Its expertise covers industry, strategy, people, process, and technology, delivering rapid and impactful results. Driven by an employee ownership structure, West Monroe fosters mutual success. The company is consistently recognized as a top workplace by Fortune and USA Today and as a leading consultancy by Forbes and Forrester.

Over a year ago, West Monroe launched Modern Health, a comprehensive mental health and Employee Assistance Program (EAP) designed to enhance employee well-being. The program includes 10 annual therapy sessions, 10 coaching sessions, community spaces, medication management, and full EAP services. To improve accessibility, West Monroe partnered with BCBS to integrate Modern Health into its health plan, enabling employees to continue care with their Modern Health provider as in-network services for seamless, affordable treatment.

In its first year, the program delivered significant results. Employees gained access to care within 24 hours of scheduling, addressing gaps in mental health resources and reducing delays that could exacerbate challenges. Notably, 95% of employees reported substantial improvements in overall well-being. The program also demonstrated strong risk mitigation: 100% of low-risk participants maintained their risk level, preventing escalation of mental health concerns.

Modern Health also produced financial benefits, saving approximately $214,000 in mental health claims over the past year. By offering accessible, high-quality resources and integrating them with the health plan, the program has proven to be a valuable investment—enhancing employee lives while strengthening the organization.

1st Northwell Health
Lake Success, New York
70,226 Employees

Northwell Health is New York’s largest health care provider and private employer, operating 21 hospitals, over 890 outpatient facilities, and employing more than 90,000 people. Founded in 1997, the nonprofit has grown into a major clinical, educational, and research organization, delivering world-class service, compassionate care, and innovative solutions.

Northwell Health’s Employee and Family Assistance Program (EAP) provides immediate, confidential support for team members and their families facing mental health challenges, crises, and personal difficulties. Unlike outsourced models, Northwell’s EAP is staffed by its own licensed psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors who understand the organization’s culture and needs. The program offers counseling, coaching, crisis intervention, education, and case management, with counselors embedded across sites to ensure quick access—often within a day and same-day for urgent issues.

In 2024, EAP served over 2,600 new cases, including 14% urgent responses, and delivered nearly 150 educational sessions to more than 6,000 participants, reaching 13,000 employees overall. Key initiatives included a domestic violence awareness campaign that engaged over 300 employees and provided safety support for 72 individuals, and a formalized critical incident response process for workplace crises. Counselors address a broad range of concerns, from grief and anxiety to financial stress, substance use, and relationship issues, while also working to reduce stigma and promote well-being resources.

Despite a small team of 14 staff serving 89,000 employees, EAP ensures timely, specialized care, blending empathy with expertise. Its personalized approach and dedication to emotional well-being have earned it recognition as a 2025 President’s Award finalist for exceptional collaboration and organizational impact.
