2nd City of Montgomery
Montgomery, Ohio
84 Employees

Montgomery is a vibrant, high-quality, family-oriented suburb of 10,800 located northeast of Cincinnati, Ohio, that embraces its future while valuing the traditions and history of its past. Founded in 1795, Montgomery was known for generations as a stopping point along the old “3-C” Highway (Cincinnati-Columbus-Cleveland).

The City of Montgomery’s most distinctive benefit is its long-standing partnership with TriHealth, combined with a highly engaged employee wellness committee. For nearly 20 years, TriHealth has supported the city’s wellness efforts by providing a dedicated coordinator who oversees programs such as onsite physicals, wellness challenges, EAP services, biometric screenings, and fitness classes. The wellness committee meets monthly with the coordinator to promote initiatives and respond to employee needs in real time. A standout example of this collaboration is a firefighter-led group workout held monthly at the station, aimed at encouraging lasting fitness habits. This strong partnership has fostered a culture of wellness that is deeply embedded in the city’s workplace.

The City of Montgomery takes a comprehensive approach to employee wellness by addressing all pillars of health. Physical health is supported through firefighter-led group workouts, wellness challenges, onsite physicals for the fire department, and biometric screenings for all employees. Mental health is a key focus, with initiatives such as employee assistance programs, mental health fairs, podcasts, and wellness notes. Financial wellness is promoted through upcoming information sessions with a local financial institution and resources available on the city’s wellness platform. Social well-being is encouraged through various charitable initiatives that benefit both city residents and employees.

3rd Springfield Township
Cincinnati, Ohio
135 Employees

Centrally located in Hamilton County just north of Cincinnati, we are home to 36,000 people and seven school districts. We are a welcoming community with service at our core.

The organization recently partnered with WHOOP to provide wearable health tracking bands to interested employees, with over 60 currently participating. This initiative supports education around physical activity, stress, and sleep, while also providing aggregate data to guide future wellness programming. What sets the wellness program apart is its broad range of topics and challenges, addressing not only physical health but also mental, emotional, financial, and psychological well-being. A key indicator of success over the past year has been the increased number of employee touchpoints across all wellness areas, achieved through diverse and consistent communication efforts.

In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the organization implemented several new policies and procedures to protect employee health and safety. These included allowing certain positions to telecommute, staggering in-office work schedules to reduce contact, and providing up to two weeks of paid administrative leave for employees experiencing symptoms or testing positive, without using their personal leave. Efforts were also made to minimize interactions with the general public. Some of these measures, such as telecommuting, reduced in-person meetings, and increased use of virtual platforms like Zoom, have proven beneficial and remain in place today.

2nd City of Lebanon, Ohio
Lebanon, Ohio
177 Employees

The City of Lebanon, located in Warren County, Ohio, is a full-service municipality founded in 1802. With a population of approximately 21,500, the city offers a high quality of life and a broad range of services, including police, fire, parks, streets, water, sewer, and electric. As the city continues to grow, it employs 177 full-time and around 15 part-time staff. Given the region's low unemployment rate of around 3%, employee recruitment and retention remain key priorities for the city’s management team.

The City has long supported employee health through biometric screenings, free fitness classes, and chronic condition education. However, recent data showed that while chronic condition rates were not worsening, they were no longer improving. In response, the City introduced a more targeted approach focused on five metabolic risk factors identified through biometric screenings. Employees with three or more elevated risk factors are now required to complete three coaching sessions with a health and wellness professional to qualify for the Employee Wellness discount. These sessions, aimed at helping employees develop sustainable lifestyle changes, are free and can be completed during work hours. Family members are also eligible to participate at no cost. This expanded coaching initiative reflects the City's commitment to reducing chronic conditions and improving overall quality of life for its workforce.

In the community, employees are encouraged to volunteer through incentive programs and participate in fundraising events such as a chili cook-off. Community engagement is further highlighted by inviting local nonprofits to employee events and recognizing outstanding service through an annual Community Service Award.
